I love marketing. I love productivity, efficiency, and the thrill of launching a well-designed and executed marketing campaign. I also love finding ways to repurpose and get the most mileage possible from each marketing effort. It's so cool.
But I also struggle. And at the top of my shit list is how often and hard I have to work to suss out from my business colleagues, "What problem are you trying to solve and for whom?" Turns out, it can be easy to forget about the customer when you're deep in the quest of making a business money. Plus, why do so many people think that "the marketing person" can do everything in marketing? And why do some people think that a marketing tactic / tool / channel must be used simply because it exists?
At best, I'd like to make a small dent toward changing these attitudes through sweet, gentle reminders. At a minimum, I get to vent and bitch about it.
